1883年（清光緒9年）建成，燈塔於1962年由政府整修後，塔高21.4公尺，，是目前台灣光力最強的燈塔，被稱為「東亞之光」。鵝鑾鼻為台灣南端海角，屬於珊瑚礁石灰岩地形，地理景觀上十分奇特，有怪石、巨礁及洞穴，海景更是一絕，被視為「台灣八景」之一。 

Eluanbi Lighthouse was built  in 1883during the Qing Dynasty. In 1962, Eluanbi Lighthouse was rebuilt by the government with a total height of 21.4 m (70 ft). It is renowned as “the Light of East Asia” for its strong optical power of light among Taiwan lighthouses. Cape Eluanbi is the southernmost point of Taiwan with coast covered with coral reefs. Its Karst topography makes it one of the Eight Views of Taiwan featuring unique geographic landscape such as rock seashores, sunken caves and limestone tableland cliffs.
